The Stones Of Mani, Views of the Southern Peloponnese.
Price: 3,000.00 USD
Sacramento: Stalwart Press, 2000. 4to. 64 pp. "Swisher's meditative studies of fleeting light and enduring stone were made with a 4 x 5 field camera. Each negative was then contact printed on rag paper which was handcoated with platinum-palladium and then exposed to ultraviolet light. This time consuming process gives a photograph of lustrous depth and archival endurance. This fine print edition of The Stones of Mani is built around the twelve platinum-palladium prints which are reproduced on Crane's 90 pound business card stock. The prints are presented in a separate portfolio. Each one is signed by Mary Swisher. The text is printed on Rives Heavyweight paper, using handset Garamond, Garamond Italic and Hadriano stonecut types. Endpapers, labels and portfolio detail are of Hahnemuhle Aegean blue Bugra paper. A natural German Rohhalbleinen linen is used for the enduring book and portfolio covering. The binding of the book is stitched in the Greek key design using natural linen thread. The lions on the title page and the blue cross motif on the text pages are taken from stone carvings found in the 11th century Church of Metamorphsis". The Stones of Mani is limited to sixty numbered copies, twelve o. Book and portfolio housed in a slipcase. New.
