Churchill in His Time: A Study in a Reputation, 1939-1945, publisher's Uncorrected Proof Copy

Price: 45.00 USD

London: Methuen & Co Ltd, 1968. Bibliographer Curt Zoller says of this work: "Though it claims to be impartial, this is mainly a critical collection of articles that purports to tell "why he never regained his 1940 popularity, which had reached its nadir by 1942 and caused him to be turned out of office in 1945." Denounced as "journalistic rubbish" by the Times Literary Supplement (28 November 1968), it nevertheless provides some useful, not often consulted sources. Here is the publisher's Uncorrected Proof Copy, bound in tan wraps specifying the publication date and price, with illustrations but no index. Condition is about very good. The tan wraps are complete and the binding square, with no evidence of having been read. The wraps show slight wear to extremities and mild spine toning, as well as an inked circle around the publisher's estimated price at the lower front cover. The contents are clean, though age-toned. We find no previous ownership marks. Spotting appears confined to the top edge. Bibliographic reference: Zoller A333. First edition. Very good.
