A facsimile of the manuscript written by Wells at about 12 years of age, apparently his earliest surviving work of any length. It is an amusing satire about a war between the King of Clubs and the King of Spades.Someone had removed the stitches from the King of Spades' best pants and so forced him to wear his second-best on Sunday and he blamed the King of Clubs. A battle ensued and so the story was developed in early Wellsian tradition. Number 411 of 1413 numbered copies reerved for the members of Be. Original black cloth, glassine.
