Berlin: Georg Kallmeyer, 1942. 1) Photo Album: (1941-42). Octavo. (Kordelheftung). Half maroon cloth over tan paper-covered boards bound with decorative string. Printed plate mounted on first leaf: "Zur Erinnerung an das "Ausgezeichnet" im Entscheid beim IV. Sportgruppen-Wettbewerb im Juni 1941. B.S.G. Standard." Plate with two original signatures (unreadable) of the Betriebsführer and Betriebsobmann. Photographs range from 5" x 7" to 2 1/2" x 3 3/4" and are mounted or inserted on heavy card stock. The photos show the female Rogge dance group at practice and performing in their collective outfits with the DAF (Deutsche Arbeitsfront) emblem. All 17 (mounted) professional photographs (5" x 7") are possibly by well-known German photographer Ruth Hallensleben (1898-1977). The rest of the images were taken privately by amateur photographers. Those photos are inserted, some with hand written notes on verso. Five photographs (2 1/2" x 4") are from a March 1941 performance by the Lola Rogge group at the Ufa - Palast. Lola Rogge (1908-1990) was a famous German dancer and choreographer. In 1927, after studying with the legendary pioneer of "Ausdruckstanz", Rudolf von Laban, she founded her own school and later became director of the "Hamburger Laban-Schule." Rogge's groundbreaking teachings focused on developing personality, character and self-expression through the medium of dance. Minor scuffing on cloth, boards slightly bowed. Few photos loose. Illustrated with b/w reproductions of drawings as well as some photographs showing various sports such as skiing, swimming, sailing, tennis, football, shooting and dancing. Introduction by Reichswirtschaftsminister and Reichsbankpräsident, Walther Funk with a reproduction of a photograph of Funk in Nazi uniform. Text in German, gothic script. Some creasing and scuffing on wraps. Staining on rear cover. Wraps in good+, interior in near fine condition. Scarce. OCLC lists only 1 library worldwide owning this item. Early 1940's National socialist publication with 15 musical scores, composed to accompany dance and gymnastic performances by the Bund Deutscher Mädel (League of German Maidens). The BDM was the female branch of the Nazi party youth movement, the Hitler Youth. It was the only female youth organization in Nazi Germany. Age wear, creasing, staining. 1" closed tear repaired on bottom edge of rear wrapper. Same closed tear affecting last 5 leaves. Some chipping and tearing on spine. Slight age toning to outer edges of pages. Text in German, Gothic script. Wraps in good-, interior in overall very good condition. 3 additional musical scores from the period, laid-in: a) Degerlocher-Hüpfer. b) Der Kesselflicker & Die Blaue Flagge. c) 7 pages of musical score, lacking first 2 leaves (no name).
