E. Cotes for Thomas Williams, 1668. This is the second impression of the catalogue by William Crowe (1616-1675), Chaplain and Master of the hospital of Holy Trinity at Croydon, Surrey (1668 to his death by hanging himself in 1675). Additional material has been added to the book by another bibliographer who was apparently active up to 1701. Pages of a different type from the original (laid paper) have been interleaved into the text and handwritten (in tiny, very neat writing) additons of more books on the Old and New Testament have been added. There are also index pages at the front and back of the book with the additional authors listed alphabetically rather than by subject in the inserted pages. Cover is rebound in handsome full leather with raised bands and gilt lettering on the spine, blind-stamped decoration on the boards. The pages show some minor discoloration and there are a few corrections on the printed material, but the text is intact and otherwise unmarred. Good.
