This graphic map shows a substantial portion of South America as it existed in the mid-19th century. Its primary focus is Brazil, but it also includes Bolivia, La Plata, Uruguay, Peru, and Paraguay, with borders marked in red. Provinces are distinguished by color and labeled with separately printed red text. An inset at the lower right shows the western part of Peru.The map appeared in Morse's "General Atlas of the World" and is in very good condition. Top left corner slightly folded not affecting the image.Charles Morse was the son of Samuel F.B. Morse and the nephew of map publisher Sidney Morse. Collaborating with other mapmakers and publishers, he produced a number of atlases, with the General Atlas being his only folio.
