Known as the father of obstetrics and gynaecology in Egypt, Mahfouz (1882-1974) managed to collect more than 1,300 mounted specimens from operations he performed, which form the basis of this atlas. It illustrates a vast array of pathological conditions, including faecal fistulae, spinal analgesia, fibroids, ectopic pregnancy, gynaecological malignancies, and pelvic infections. Described by Sir Eardley Holland (1880-1967) as "no doubt the best book that has appeared in obstetrics and gynaecology." Tall octavo. Original black cloth bindings, with gilt titles. In the uncommon dust jackets, which are a trifle edgeworn with some minor soiling, largely to the first volume; otherwise very good. First Edition. Very good.
