Text in parallel Latin and English. Illustrated with 11 copper engraved plates (1, folding) and some text woodcuts & copper engravings. Nicely rebound in antique style, plain calf with red morocco label over marbled boards. Some light soiling at blank fore-edges. Very scarce. This is a complicated volume, in numerous sections. Our copy has been compared with the OCLC digital record of the University of Michigan copy and it collates exactly. Foster (d. 1652) wrote these miscellaneous pieces for his pupils. Included are descriptions of his Planetary Instruments, Astroscopium and Geometrical Square, a catalog of fixed stars, observations of eclipses by himself, John Palmer and Twysden, a method of projecting the celestial sphere, etc. Wing F1634.
