Our Town. Compiled by the Officers of the Landmands National Bank. Censored by the Officers of the Kimballton Welfare Club
Price: 20.00 USD
Kimballton IA: Kimballton Welfare Club, 1920. 32p., sepia presswork on tinted alkaline paperstock, softbound, a 9.5x6.5 inch staplefastened pamphlet; illustrated with period photography, half of the town, the rest mugshots. Cover somewhat handled and crimped, textblock less so but has suffered a two-inch scratch to titlepage (slightly affects title photo). A good-only copy. Dated from remarks such as the war just being over. Presume that the "Welfare Club" is a Chamber of Commerce in vitro or in disguise. The "censoring" that it appears Club officers did was to amplify virtues of shops that bought ads ("The West & Esbeck Garage is one of the finest buildings in town and one of the most up to date garages in this section of the country" and just generally be silly.
