Sydney: 1935. Prospectus of the architecture firm, Thomson & Gould, based in Sydney's beautiful Strand Arcade. An encapsulation of early Australian modernism, 'The Australian Home' presents building plans for houses with large windows and rounded corners inspired by the style of Streamline Moderne, a semi-Spanish style abode, asbestos cement residences and a building promoting the use of wide weatherboards. Two additional pages of advertisements for home furnishings from a company called J.A. Booth & Co. Pty. Ltd, established in 1890, appear at the end. Scarce. Octavo, original illustrated paper wrappers, 21 pages + 2 pages of advertisements, cover stamped with the company's new address in Pitt Street, a good copy.
