Casanova's Homecoming: Opera Buffa in Three Acts
Price: 75.00 USD
New York: Boosey and Hawkes, 1985. 59 pages. Bound in stapled wraps, in very good condition. Light tanning along spine and along top edge of rear cover; one-inch brown stain on rear cover, with some other little brown speckles nearby; the larger stain shows through the cover to the inside, which is page 59, and also mildly marks page 58 opposite it. This is the libretto for Argento's 1985 comic opera. It is inscribed in black ink across the front cover (which also acts as the title page), "for Lisl & Win/with love,/Dominick". "Lisl & Win" are the Minnesota modernist architects Lisl and Winston Close. Accompanying the libretto is a 22-page staple-bound program, in fine condition, for the opera's April 12, 1985, premier at the Ordway Music Theatre in St. Paul; it was the first large-scale production at the theater.
