A collection of essays, first published about a decade prior when Feltham was merely a teenager. Nevertheless, Feltham's essays cover a spread of middle class issues of the time, some being described as proto-feminist, and he is still considered to be one of the finest early English essayists. Engraved title page, with slight loss to the extremities of the page, mounted on laid paper. Separate title page for the second part, "Resolves: Divine, Morall, Politicall: The Second Centurie." Minor chipping to the corner of a few leaves, not affecting the text. Soiling to p. 448. Lacking the 22 pp. index, and lacking the initial leaf, which ESTC describes as bearing "The face of the booke vnmasked." on the verso, facing the title page. , 448, pp. Fully rebacked in sympathetic Japanese tissue. Contemporary vellum. Though the text is reasonably clean and bright, the loss of the index and initial leaf, and the modern rebacking, make this merely in Good condition. (ESTC S101841).
